Summer concerts return with Lawrence City Band, Brown Bag concert series - City of Lawrence, Kansas

The Lawrence City Band and the Brown Bag concert series’ return to bring some music to those midweek blues.

Sponsored by Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department and the Rice Foundation, the Lawrence City Band performs at 8 p.m. every Wednesday night through July 14 in South Park.

The following are the music themes to be presented throughout the summer concert series:

May 25 – Summertime in South Park June 1 – Downtown Dance Mix June 8 – From Stage and Screen June 15 – Hands Across the Channel June 22 – Sunny Days, Warm Nights June 29 – American Vistas July 6 – American Salute July 13 – Grand Finale

The band is conducted by Paul Popiel. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held at the Lied Center, 1600 Stewart Drive, on the University of Kansas Campus.

The Brown Bag concert series, sponsored by Lawrence Parks and Recreation in conjunction with Downtown Lawrence, Inc. presents a variety of artists each week. The concerts are held at noon every Thursday through July 28 in front of the U.S. Bank building, 900 Massachusetts St.

The following are the artists and bands to perform each week throughout the summer concert series:

June 2 – The Beer Bellies June 9 – Kim and the Quake June 16 – Paul Gray June 23 – River Valley Boys June 30 – Billy Ebeling and the Late for Dinner Band July 7 – Vaughn Cowden July 14 – Jubilee Mystics July 21 – TBA July 28 – TBA

In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held at Watkins Community Museum, 1047 Massachusetts St.
